Airlines that once poo-pooed Boeing’s idea of a “middle-of-the-market,” light twin-aisle jetliner are now warming up to it, as leaders at Alaska, Delta and United made clear during month’s ISTAT annual conference in San Diego.

In late January, despite predicting a decline in overall sales, Boeing forecast higher earnings for the year ahead and its shares reached an all-time high. The  boost is due in large part to the success of the 737 MAX.
