Name: Bill Wahmuth

What do you do at ABW?

I’m a quality control supervisor and an ASNT Level III Leak Detection inspector.

How long have you worked here?

It will be 28 years in June.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy almost everything about my job. Each morning when I leave my house, I look forward to all the challenges I’ll have to face that day.

I enjoy the diversity of work we do and the challenge of working to different codes, standards and specifications. I also enjoy educating, training, certifying and mentoring people to be successful in their careers. I especially like the people I work with.

What music do you like?

I like country and rock -- George Thorogood, Brantley Gilbert, The Doors, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Pearl Jam.

Do you have a favorite book, movie and/or TV show?

I read a lot but I think my favorite book is “Sermon on the Mount” by Emmet Fox. I strive to live my life by principles and this book teaches me to develop principles that help me to make all my decisions in life.

My favorite movie is “Lord of the Rings.” I first read all the books while saturation diving at 500 feet in the North Sea in 1977. It was amazing. I was able to visualize a fantasy world that all the books described. When I saw the first movie, it came so close to duplicating the world I imagined. I was hooked.

My favorite TV show is a toss-up between “Game of Thrones” and “Vikings.” I have a lot of responsibility in all areas in my life and so, when I’m not doing something for someone else, I like to watch shows and movies in which I can get lost in the fantasy and just relax.

If I’m not at work, I’m probably...

working out and taking care of my home and wife.

My favorite ice cream flavour is...

Cherry Garcia.

Something you may not know about me is...

starting in 1991, I spent 13 years training and doing 12 to 15 triathlons a year. I’ve won over 90 races.

If I had a time machine for a day...

I would go back to September 27, 1988 at Camp Seely, where I got married to my wife Gloria in front of our daughter Sam and 150 of our friends.

We're proud of our talented, hardworking team members.
