The Brief:

Fabricate and test hundreds of steel micropile caps for transmission line tower supports.

Project overview:

We fabricated and tested the nearly 800 various steel micropile caps in accordance with our ISO 9001:2008 program. We created the steel pile caps from nearly 1.9 million pounds of A588 material, with each cap weighing between 2,000 and 5,000 pounds.

Our team placed significant emphasis on material and welder traceability, pre-heat/interpass temperature monitoring, ultrasonic inspection of full penetration welds, MT inspection of all fillet welds and dimensional inspection.
